Diwali Celebrations at RNBGU

November 9th 2015, the day was Dhanteras, the venue RNB Global University. In the winter of 2015 RNB Global University celebrated the most revered festival, Diwali with a lot of reverence carved with a lot of fun and frolic. Diwali is not just a day which is an ode to the home coming of Lord Rama, it also carries with it the essence of victory of good over evil. Hindu Mythology pages various stories of the victory of good over evil, from tretayug till kalyug , faces have changed, names have changed, but the souls have been the same  and the lesson learnt “ Good is always victorious over Evil”.

The festival spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness or good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, and hope over despair. The festival preparations and rituals typically extend over a five-day period, but the main festival night of Diwali coincides with the darkest, no moon night of the Hindu Lunisolar month Kartika.

The festivities start with Dhanteras. The word Diwali means rows of lighted oil lamps. Prayers are offered before one or more deities, with most common being Lakshmi – the goddess of wealth and prosperity.

At RNBGU Dhanteras, and Laxmi pooja were celebrated with the traditional zeal and gusto. The preparations started a day prior, where we witnessed a RNB hustle bustle. The main choir was transformed into a beautiful, dainty, place of worship adorned with rangoli, colors, diyas and the idols of laxmi and Ganesh. It was also announced to all that on the day of the celebrations and pooja prizes will be given and a surprise announcement was made for the Best dressed in both categories male and female.

On the day of the pooja it was an ensemble which was a treat to the eyes as all at RNB, the students, the staff, the faculty, were dressed in attires which made us understand that we may reach the moon , but our traditions, values and our submission to what has been preached from generation to generation by our elders will always be what we BELIEVE in and not just a BELIEF.

The dignitaries comprising of all members of senior management; the Hon’ble Vice Chairman, Mr. K.K Bajaj, Mr. Vikram Bajaj, Hon’ble President Lt. Gen. R.K Karwal with their family members graced the ceremony and were welcomed with the tikka and aarti.

Before the pooja started our anchors read out to us the reason why we celebrate dhanteras with Laxmi pooja , explaining the importance and relevance in the modern context. The Pooja started as all members of the senior management made their offerings to the Lord, along with the Hon’ble President Lt. Gen. R.K.Karwal, and all other staff and faculty members.

With the chants of the arti the aura reverberated with peace and happiness. This was followed by a sudden rush of students running here and there making the university look like a new bride carefully embedded with the choicest of jewelry and the best of attires, as the rangoli, T shirt painting and other games were announced. All the participants and the respective coordinators took their places in the academic block which was the venue for the competitions. On this day it felt like all dreams of these budding talents were frozen in the form of drawings with the colors of rangoli, and as their paint brushes gave a shape to their dreams.

The winners for the various competitions including the best dressed in traditional wear in both categories were announced. The dignitaries present and the Honorable president were requested to do the honors by felicitating the winners.

The celebrations ended with taste buds being lavishly pampered with sumptuous eateries and the lip smacking sweets which are a delight and major attraction during festivals for all ages across the board.

The celebrations can be summed up as a lavish feast spread out on a carpet of colors, chants of prayers, blessings from the mentors, fun, frolic, the sweetness of winning, and most importantly for RNB in its first year of inception this was yet another milestone toward leading the team forward as a well-groomed bunch of the GENERATION NEXT.
